veto
Latin for 'I forbid'. This motif allows one person to stop a decision from being made (and thus maintain the status quo). This can expressed by verbally, by hand gesture or by a special voting option.
consensus
A general agreement that may still have outstanding objections. Consensus is different to majority by intention: the achievement of consent. Subsequently, the processes used in consensus decision making methods actively search for consent but will resolve without it.
